How To Arrange To Stay In The Lexington Fisher House

The Lexington Fisher House provides free lodging for Veterans and their families while receiving treatment in the Lexington VA Health Care System.

You may be eligible to stay in the Lexington Fisher House. Here are the necessary steps to determine eligibility.

Eligibility

Is involved in the episodic care of the Veteran being treated at the Lexington VA Health Care System.
Must be capable of self-care.
Resides 50 miles or more from the Lexington VA Health Care System campus.

Care is confirmed through medical consults.

Exceptions to the 50-mile rule, while rare, may be granted at the direction of the Fisher House Manager.

All Fisher House accommodation requests require a medical consult.

Consults can be placed by doctors, nurses, CNAs, social workers and appointment schedulers.

Please ask one of the above to submit a consult, this will notify us of your request to stay at the Fisher House.

Guests must follow all house rules:

No smoking, alcohol, weapons or drug use.
Willing and able to clean up after themselves.
No pets. Service animals are allowed.
Guests must express a willingness to respect the rights of other guests and contribute and caring community living environment.
Children must always be supervised by family member(s).
Families will only be assigned one guest room.
No registered sex offenders are permitted at the Fisher House.
Guests must be in good health.
Must answer screening questions.
